Meet Author Dawn Marie Roeder

Dawn Marie Roeder was born in Hackensack New Jersey.  She spent her early years in New Jersey and Pennsylvania where she grew up working in her families business Marco Draperies and Interiors and enjoyed many years of experience in both the design and manufacturing end of the business.  In 1986 she moved with her family to Arizona and in 1992 she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Arizona State University with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. In her early twenties Dawn encountered the mercy of a loving God and in realizing the importance of faith and spirituality she became active in studying her faith and participating in various ministries which continues to enrich her faith journey.

Pivotal to the foundation built in her faith journey Dawn Marie attributes her having survived the painful and tragic loss of her son Nathaniel Joseph in a car accident after she suffered a negative side effect to a prescription medication. Impassioned to spare others the heartbreak she and her family suffered, she sacrificed her own privacy and risked her reputation in a five and a half year legal battle against a promotion-driven pharmaceutical industry in order to bring attention to the potential dangers of such drugs.

Dawn Marie’s story has aired on CBS’s 48 Hours, local and national news outlets, including print news such as the front cover story of The East Valley Tribune and Jane Magazine.

In addition to promoting her new book, Dawn Marie is the Arizona Event Coordinator for the National Coalition Against Prescription Drug Abuse organization where she organizes, along with its founder April Rovero, speaking engagements, panel discussions and roundtable discussions for high schools, colleges and universities to increase awareness of the dangers of abuse and misuse of prescription drugs.
